Volkswagen AG issued a voluntary recall of 1999-2005 Passat sedans sold in the United States to install an additional heat shield.
About 410,000 Passats with automatic transmissions are eligible for the recall. A damaged heat shield that comes in contact with the exhaust system "could create risk," the German automaker said in a statement Friday.
